Vanilla Guesthouse is on Malo Island, next to Santo. It belongs to the Avunatari Health Centre and sometimes it's full with health workers. The modern guest house has solar lighting, power in the evenings (from a generator) and an equipped kitchen.

Pandanus Guest House has two bungalows and a dining place built from a mixture of forest materials and concrete. Mosquito nets are provided. Fresh water is provided for bathing (bucket showers). They have a new water-seal toilet. Kerosene and solar powered lamps are used for lighting. Vuro can run his generator in the evenings —breakfast is usually local bread with coffee. Seasonal fruit such as grapefruit and coconut is provided. Lunch and dinner usually involves lap-lap with either fish, chicken, noodles and yam, served with fresh water (rain water) or home made lime cordial. Vomalehi will even show you how to make lap-lap if you are interested! The food is simple and plenty.

Bay of Illusions Yacht Club is new place in Matantas. It's run by Purity and Solomon, who used to manage Vatthe Lodge. Matantas is remote from Luganville but keen naturalists make the effort to visit Vatthe Conservation Area. A group from the Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society of New Zealand visits every year in July/August. Cruising Yachts favour the sheltered anchorage of Big Bay in Santo.

The guesthouse is a modern building with four rooms and some basic cooking facilities. Bedding and mosquito nets are provided. Solar lighting is a novelty. The village water supply is OK to drink. In 2008, a modern toilet and shower should have been completed. At present you can bath at a small waterfall and there's a good enough pit latrine for guests to use. The village is pleasant enough and refreshingly different to east Santo. There are waterfalls and other walks in the area and kava every night. Tasiriki is also a gateway to west Santo
